BIO

EDO TASTIC

Poet/ Visual Artist

Edo Tastic was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and migrated to the Dominican Republic at age two. He came to meet his parents and siblings in New York City. Harlem-raised, he is proud of the concrete beauty and arts circumambient to his childhood and public school education.

In 2017, he self-published Effects and He Was Here, both books available on www.Edotastic.com and Amazon. Bloomingdales commissioned twenty-six poems for their store in Soho for their jewelry section and have permanently inducted at the East 59th Street Store on tile in their denim department. Currently, he anticipates publishing the other poetic memoirs in the BURPS Series.

He continues to seek opportunities to bring poetry to new audiences. He has self-produced three lyric videos: Childhood Nuances, Star, and Sayin’ Things. In October 2020, he self-produced his first independent poetic film, Abducted: A Living Poet, not yet released.

Edo has hosted many epical readings on his own. The experiences center around a systematized setlist, including other creative mediums and artists. The performance readings blossomed from successful apartment readings to art galleries like Smush Gallery (Jersey City, NJ) and The Living Gallery (Brooklyn, NY). He has performed featured set readings with New Voices and The Inspired Word. He has read his poetry in venues like Cafe Con Libros in Brooklyn and Bluestockings in LES. Poetry for Edo manifests a tangible guide, one echoing ancient derivative emotional intelligence, and ways to cope with existing limitations of the ego.
